Scott Halstead – Bio:

Scott Halstead moved to Farmington 9 years ago for its consistently high rankings among Connecticut towns for public education and quality of life. Scott has been active in Farmington as a coach for Farmington Youth Basketball, Treasurer for Cub Scouts and assisting with his sons’ little league baseball teams. He believes in the importance of being an engaged citizen, understanding the issues beyond sound-bites, and providing input to elected officials. Over the last several years, Scott has been involved in town matters as a concerned citizen and now he is ready to take the next step and serve the Town of Farmington as an Alternate for the Planning and Zoning Board.

Scott’s career has been primarily in the education field. He has a Masters of Science Degree in college student development from Miami University (OH) and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology from DePauw University (IN). He spent the early part of his career managing college residence halls at the University of Vermont and Fordham University where he developed management, team-building, consensus-building and conflict resolution skills. For the last 12 years, he has worked at American Eagle Federal Credit Union, most recently as Manager of Talent and Organizational Development.

Scott is married to Marie, a partner at Shipman & Goodwin LLP in Hartford. They have two boys, Zach (15) and Ethan (12), both of whom are students in the Farmington Public Schools system. In his free time, Scott enjoys cheering on UCONN and the Red Sox, golfing and watching his boys doing all the activities they love, including FHS Crew, FSA soccer, basketball, baseball, trombone and cello.
